performing arts performance review

The performance consisted of lots of different performances. it started of with two singing performance's. the first group sang Don't Stop Believin' by Journey. which consisted of girls and boys. the second performance was an all girls singing group who sang American boy by Estelle. afterwards we saw a dance performance including dancers who chose the dance btec certificate option and then we saw a dance piece with just the dancers. finally we saw a collection of performances of some greek tales by the drama class.

I felt the performances were very engaging to the audience. one reason i believe this is because all of the performers were very confident and captivating. this encourages the audience to engage in the performance as it seems more real and believable which makes the overall experience a lot more fun. The lighting and sound also added another layer to the wow factor of the performance which also encourages the audience to engage because it creates a sense of reality throughout and makes each of the overall performances more effective and appealing.

an effective technique that stood out to me that helped engaged the audience took place when i was watching one of the drama performances. a scene was taking place on the stage and they called out for another character. The character then stood up from the audience and delivered her lines. this really impressed me because not only did it involve us as the audience in the performance, but it added another element of surprise to there performance as well. and because there were at least 6 other drama performances before the this happened. it was quite refreshing to see something like this because it does not happen a lot.

A standout moment in this performance for me was when the all girls group sang Estelle's song American boy. the performance included a piano and their vocals. The reason this performance stood out to me was because they used lots of technical aspects and it all worked. the harmonies were in tune, they were confident, they didn't sing too loud for the microphones. they even had parts of the song where some people sang one part and others sang another but it wasn't messy everything was on point. and the solo's were flawless.

overall i quite enjoyed the entire event. you could tell the performers enjoyed the event, and the environment was nice to showcase what ever all been working on over this time. it was also good to include the lighting and sound and technical side of the performance's because everything seemed more professional with that.
